Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Combine flour and salt in medium-size bowl. Stir in milk. Beat in eggs until batter is completely blended. Place 1 1/2 teaspoons shortening in bottom of each of 12 custard cups or large muffins tins. Place in oven and heat until shortening is melted and cups are hot. Fill each cup 2/3 full with batter.
  3. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Do not open oven door while popovers are baking. To do so will prevent them from "popping".
  4. Serve hot with butter.
