Instructions
  1. Place ribs in shallow roasting pan, meaty side up. Place a thin slice of onion on each piece. Bake, uncovered, at 450 degrees for 30 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees. Drain excess grease from pan.
  2. Combine remaining ingredients in medium-size saucepan. Bring to a boil. Pour over ribs; continue baking at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Baste ribs with the sauce every 15 minutes. Add more water if sauce gets too thick.
Recipe Notes

The ribs may be made in a slow cooker. Brown ribs under broiler for 20 minutes to remove excess fat. Layer ribs and onions in crockpot. Add barbecue sauce. Cover and cook on low setting for 6-8 hours or high setting for 3-4 hours.
